The "Normal" Women of Wisconsin meet monthly in support of one another's dreams.  They have navigated the waters of change and have something to offer other women doing the same.  From creating a vision to their lives, to dealing with obstacles along the way, to making their dreams come true.  These women are of various ages and stages in life.  They are from all walks of life.  And changes have occurred for them along the way.  Join a day filled with inspirational stories, vulnerable sharing and powerful tools to take away for your own Now What? that you may be facing.

Here are some of the stories....

I Found my new normal.

When I turned 40 it was a life shifting year for me.  I had lost my father that Spring and was feeling all kinds of feels that year.  A mama, a psychotherapist at a fairly good place in my career, a wife, a step-mom, a daughter to my mother and step-dad, a sister, an artist, a writer.  All these roles and labels, and yet, still not feeling full of passion in life.  Questioning my purpose.  I took a trip with a group, fairly on a whim, to Vietnam that fall.  I knew the woman, Jana Stanfield, and trusted her to lead me on the journey.  And still I was scared.  Traveling with a group of 30 people to a part of the world that was on the other side of the earth. Life-changing does not even do it justice.  Within months upon my return I was open to my new normal.  I started a business, Hot Pink YOUniversity, with my business partner.  A business where our work was to empower women to make changes, love their lives, and live with passion.  ~ Christie Gause-Bemis, A "Normal" woman of Wisconsin, CEO of Hot Pink YOUniversity and Owner of Bemis Psychotherapy and Consulting

I found my new normal.

Life is a funny journey.  You are moving along just fine and then the road splits or ends and you need to course redirect.  You need to find a NEW NORMAL.

Last August I was told that our company was making some changes and then my position was being eliminated.  Now, I am sure that I am not the first person, only person or last person to hear this, but, all the same, I was in shock.  I mean, I kind of new it was coming because so many changes were happening.  But, when it finally did happen.  I WAS A MESS.

Then, I decided to walk through life with my eyes WIDE OPEN so that I could see all of the amazing opportunities that were presenting themselves to me.   I needed to figure out what I was going to do, how I was going to live and what my NEW NORMAL was going to look like.  Fantastic opportunities were abundant and all around me.

One in particular was FemCity.  My husband also works from home, so it has been a fun experience figuring things out.  Sometimes a challenge, but most times a joy.  One thing I knew I would need if I was going to work from home was a group of women that I could collaborate with.  I wanted to surround myself with positive, professional, driven, dedicated, smart, successful women.  That’s where FemCity came about.  I learned about the organization last October from a friend in Toronto who is the leader of a thriving organization up there.  I loved the vibe of her posts on Facebook and was excited to hear that there was an opportunity to bring it to Madison.  I met with a few women, and it began to grow.

Now, this group of women are connecting, building relationships with one another and helping each other grow their businesses.  We really wanted to share our lessons learned and experiences with other women and that is where we came up with NOW WHAT?  Finding my new normal.  My hope is that by sharing the story of our stories, we will help other women on their journey.

I Found my new normal.

Like many of you, I had a vision of the way life was going to go and surprise – after the birth of my second daughter, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. I spent years trying to make it all work. To say I was stressed out is an understatement, I was in pain, out of energy, and in a word, surviving from day-to-day. In 2010, I discovered Brave Girls Club and the incredible curriculum Soul Restoration. Working through the class soothed me, led me to my truth, and left me feeling renewed and alive. I began to dream about what was possible and I just knew I had to share this work with others. And that was how Gather was born. Gather is a place where you always have a seat at the table. At Gather, we lead workshops designed to empower and uplift women. Not only do you leave feeling great, you leave with a new set of tools to refer to when life begins to creep back in. At the Gather ‘Round Retreat, we dive deep and spend three days really listening to what is true and what is calling our hearts.
